SLU 101 Parent & Family Program
Parents and families are encouraged to attend SLU 101 with their students. A complete schedule of sessions are offered specifically for parents, to help ease your transition and allow you to become more familiar with campus. Session topics include: scholarship/financial aid, student health, campus safety, academic advising, student services, and transition issues. Click here for a sample Parent & Family Schedule.
Parents and families are responsible for making their own hotel reservations. Click here for a listing of local accommodations.
While you may consider returning to campus in August for Fall Welcome to help your student move on campus, SLU 101 is the format where parents receive the most information about campus and are able interact with campus faculty/staff/students. We encourage you to attend SLU 101 with your student if it is feasible for you to do so.
Comments from parents who have attended SLU 101 in the past include:
"Awesome experience. Presentations were professional, well prepared and informative. Leaders and presenters were contagiously enthusiastic. Our daughter came in apprehensive and left eager and excited. THANK YOU!"
"I thought that the program was extremely beneficial. The SLU 101 leaders were great and our son felt comfortable and embraced into the SLU culture. Thanks."
"I really enjoyed this experience and my daughter is now even more excited to attend SLU. I think the experience was well worth our time."
"SLU 101 provided answers to many questions but also gave us hands on experience of campus life. I know that move in day will be much less stressful due to the information we received in the two days we were on campus. "
"Excellent program. Thanks! Wish it would be mandatory for parents. Parents not attending sure missed a lot of great and worthwhile information essential to make the transition go smoothly."
