Greek Community Standards
The fraternities and sororities at Saint Louis University are values based organizations and therefore its members are held to a higher level of accountability and ethical responsibility. Fraternity men and sorority women are expected to act as responsible members of the Saint Louis University community as well as the local Saint Louis community both on and off campus. The expectations of fraternities and sororities are outlined in the Interfraternity Council and Panhellenic Council constitutions and bylaws, and the Greek Social Events Policy. Chapters may be held accountable for any actions committed by members as these actions may reflect on the chapter as a whole and may also reflect upon the University community. Fraternities and sororities should provide their members an enriching experience that enhances their involvement at Saint Louis University.

Greek Standards Board
The Greek Standards Board (GSB) at Saint Louis University is a judiciary board composed of undergraduate students throughout our Greek Community.
The purpose of the board is to resolve disputes that involve fraternities and sororities and Greek members. Also, the GSB strives to provide a positive atmosphere in which the values and standards of Greek Life are upheld. The Greek Community at Saint Louis University holds our members to a higher level of accountability and ethical responsibility. The GSB will hold each chapter accountable for the behavior of its individual members. The Greek Standards Board is not intended to parallel the legal system. Want to Get Involved?
Serving as a chapter representative on the Greek Standards Board is a wonderful opportunity for any students interested in future law or student affair careers, or students who want to be actively involved in the Greek community decision process. The application process occurs in the Spring semester of the academic school year. Members of the GSB are required to attend all meetings. The board meets weekly on Fridays, from 3 pm - 5 pm for trainings, hearings, and any other business to be discussed.
Requirements of Greek Standards Board Representatives:
Applicants must be in good standing with their chapter.
Applicants must have a minimum GPA of 3.0.
Applicants must be in good Disciplinary Standing, which will be verified by the Program Coordinators of Fraternity and Sorority Life and the Office of Student Conduct.
Applicants must have been an initiated member of their chapter for a minimum of one semester.
Applicants must have their chapter president's approval to apply for the board
If a member would like to remain on the board, they must fill out an intent-to-return application.
All selected members must attend a training session each semester.

Chapter Conduct Status
Saint Louis University keeps record of the chapters that, as a result of violating University rules and regulations or accepting responsibility for organizational misconduct, have been placed on a formal disciplinary status. The list we have provided outlines chapters that are on probation, suspension, and/or substance restriction status.
Disciplinary Probation is a serious restriction on the fraternity/sorority's good standing with the University. Disciplinary Probation can last anywhere from one semester to two years. Any subsequent violations during the probationary period will be viewed as both a violation of University regulations and a violation of the probation, and may result in additional and more severe sanctions. A fraternity/sorority on Disciplinary Probation will be required to fulfill specific conditions and/or refrain from certain actions or activities. At the end of the disciplinary probation period, all lost privileges shall be restored.
While on Disciplinary Probation the chapter will forfeit their right to vote in their respective governing council on any business but are still expected to attend. Further, any member of the chapter will be unable to hold any leadership role/position within the Greek community, whether elected or appointed, including, but not limited to, the Interfraternity Council, the Panhellenic Council, Order of Omega, GAMMA, Greek Conduct Board, Greek Mission Trip, and Greek Week. No more than three (3) Disciplinary Probation sanctions may be imposed on a fraternity/sorority within a five (5) year period. A fourth violation during this five year period will automatically result in either a suspension or termination, though the fraternity/sorority may be suspended or terminated prior to this condition. The University may impose other stipulations on the fraternity/sorority during the Disciplinary Probation period.
No chapters are currently on probation.
Suspension is defined as a separation from the University for a specified period of not less than one calendar year. Depending on the violation, it may be recommend for the organization to be removed for one college generation (4 years) to allow all current members to graduate prior to the organization returning to campus. During a suspension, the fraternity/sorority may not participate in any University-related activities, including, but not limited to: chapter meetings, recruitment, new member education, initiation, social functions, and service and philanthropic activities. At the end of the suspension period, the fraternity/sorority may be again recognized only upon the recommendation of the Student Involvement Center. At the time the chapter is placed on suspension members of the fraternity/sorority may not reside in DeMattias Hall, nor may the chapter use or reserve a chapter room in DeMattias Hall. Additionally, any room reservations on campus they have scheduled are canceled, and they are restricted from functioning as a fraternity/sorority under the present name without the authorization of the Student Involvement Center.
After the suspension period has concluded, the chapter may be placed on a form of probation, substance restriction, or both. Further, once the chapter is off suspension, they may be required to complete other various educational or disciplinary sanctions.

Substance Restriction Status
Substance Restriction allows the chapter to have only substance free (alcohol-free and drug-free) events (including member education events, switches, formals, date parties, philanthropy, etc.) through the date specified. All events must be pre-approved by the Student Involvement Center no later than 2 weeks prior to the date of the event. Any events in which alcohol is not necessarily provided, but may be present, are also prohibited. The Student Involvement Center reserves the right to deny any event that in some way may not be in accordance with substance restriction status. The chapter is certainly encouraged to have as many substance free events as they would like; this is in no way meant to limit their members' social experience.
*For the purposes of a holistic and educational approach to disciplinary sanctioning, the University may combine any and all of these disciplinary statuses (aside from Termination) as well as change them at any time.
No chapters are currently on probation.
Saint Louis University does not recognize the following organizations. As a result, the organizations below do not fall under SLU's university polices, student organization policies, or Greek life policies.The following organizations are currently unrecognized by the university. These organizations cannot initiate pledges or participate in recruitment. In addition, these organizations have lost all Greek related privileges including, but not limited to, participation in any Greek council and use of University facilities including housing privileges in DeMattias Hall and Chapter Room. For your own well-being, we discourage you from attending their events and from affiliating with these organizations.
The University discourages students from joining a fraternity or sorority that the University does not recognize. Unrecognized fraternities are not held to the University or Council standards that govern their behavior. They operate without the oversight, training and education provided by staff.
Delta Sigma Phi - The university suspended the fraternity until spring semester of 2017 after being found responsible for inappropriate conduct and violation of the Greek Social Events Policy.
Kappa Delta Rho - The fraternity charter was revoked indefinitely by the Kappa Delta Rho national organization in spring 2010.
Pi Kappa Alpha - The university suspended the fraternity until January of 2012 after being found responsible for inappropriate conduct, dishonesty, and unlawful use and possession of alcohol.
Sigma Kappa - The Sorority was closed indefinitely by the Sigma Kappa national organization in November of 2012
