NON-SLU APPROVED STUDY ABROAD OPPORTUNITIES:
Students interested in pursuing a study abroad opportunity that is not currently listed as a SLU-approved program, should contact the Study Abroad Office for additional information.
As students research non-SLU approved program options, please consider the following:
SLU Scholarships will not apply for the semester in which a student participates a non-SLU-approved program.
Federal or state aid, however, may apply. Please visit Student Financial Services for more information.
Grades from a semester abroad through a non-SLU-approved program will not factor into your SLU GPA.
- When selecting a program, ask thorough questions regarding academics, course offerings, housing accommodations, travel opportunities, on-site support, program cost, etc.
- Request and contact several references prior to selecting a non-SLU approved program
Students participating in non-SLU-approved programs must submit applications through the SLU Study Abroad Office. Students must bring all the completed application materials (as requested by the host program), an official transcript in a sealed envelope, a completed Advisor Form and Conduct Form to the Study Abroad Office (Des Peres 102). We will then complete the study abroad approval form (if applicable) and submit the application on the student's behalf.
All students are required to enroll in the mandatory international insurance plan through SLU, regardless of any other plan that you may have. The cost of $250 will be billed to your student account.
(For short-term programs the cost is $20/wk or $75/month).
All students are required to complete the necessary SLU forms and attend the pre-departure orientation.
See the study abroad office for more details.
