General Study Abroad Scholarship Opportunities


Benjamin A. Gilman International Scholarship
This scholarship provides awards for U.S. undergraduate students who are receiving Federal Pell Grant funding at a two-year or four-year college or university to participate in study abroad programs worldwide.

Boren Awards
Boren Scholarships and Fellowships provide unique funding opportunities for U.S. undergraduate and graduate students to add an important international and language component to their educations.

DAAD Scholarships (German Academic Exchange Service) (Rising Seniors and Recent Graduates)
Study Scholarships provide highly qualified individuals with an opportunity to do independent study in Germany or to complete a full Master's degree program at a German university. All fields of study. Language of instruction for most programs is English.

Davis- Putter Scholarship Fund
The Davis-Putter Scholarship Fund awards up to $10,000 to students with financial need who have been and continue to be active in social/economic movement, justice, and peace. This scholarship can apply to a study abroad if the program contains a social justice component. 

Diversity Abroad
Diversity Abroad, in cooperation with AIFS, will offer ten, $500 scholarships for full-time undergraduate (both community college and university level) students studying abroad during spring and fall semesters.

Foundation for Global Scholars
The Foundation for Global Scholars is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization located in Denver, Colorado whose mission is to create global citizens and leaders by assisting students in achieving their personal and professional goals of obtaining cultural and academic experiences abroad. The Foundation will support this mission by awarding scholarships to help enable students to obtain an international experience. Students who are from underrepresented populations in international education are a priority.

Fulbright-mtvU Awards
The Fulbright-mtvU grant is giving students the opportunity to immerse themselves in international culture by awarding those students with unique projects that utilize the power of music to encourage mutual understanding.

Rotary International, The Rotary Foundation
Today, the Ambassadorial Scholarships Program of The Rotary Foundation is the world's largest privately-funded international scholarships program. An average of 800 scholarships are awarded annually. Through grants totaling approximately US$26 million, recipients from some 69-70 countries travel abroad to study in other countries.

Travel Video Contest is excited to announce the launch of their Travel Video Contest! This contest is held almost every year, and the Grand Prize will be $4,000! There will also be some great runner-up prizes.

Whitaker International Fellows & Scholars Program (Rising Seniors, Graduate Students)
Initially founded by the Whitaker Foundation, the Whitaker Program supports international collaboration in the growing field of biomedical engineering, from graduating seniors to post-doctorate degree holders. The award covers travel, living expenses, and tuition for Fellows (partial or full, depending on host university).

Go Overseas Study Abroad Scholarship
The Go Overseas Study Abroad Scholarship is open to all current or aspiring study abroad students. Scholarships are awarded each year. The scholarship is awarded based on the creativity and analytical thinking displayed through writing samples, photos, and/or video submissions.
