International Student Summer Program
Saint Louis University welcomes students from all countries and offers the International Student Summer Program to help prepare international students for success at Saint Louis University.
Two sessions of the program are available:
- Session 1 for international students between the ages of 16 and 18 years old
July 7-26, 2014
Cost: $2,500 (includes course tuition, housing, meals, and all scheduled events and activities)
- Session 2 for international students who are admitted to Saint Louis University for the fall semester
July 28 - August 16, 2014
Cost: $4,500 (includes course tuition, housing, meals and all scheduled events and activities)
Students in both sessions live on campus while taking a credit-bearing course. They get the opportunity to improve their English skills, adjust to campus and explore the city of St. Louis through events and field trips.
An I-20 document is required to attend the program. Once you have registered for the program, an I-20 document will be sent to you.
Students in both sessions take the following credit-bearing course:
MLNG 130 - Hollywood and History: Gateway to the West
Using a central content theme based on cultural history, folklore, and sites within the Missouri and Illinois region, the course will explore the relationship between Hollywood's version of historical events and documented history. The cultural history component consists of discussion and lectures on local events and historical and literary figures in the context of U.S. history and cultural narratives. The course also has discussion sessions based on movies and field trips to local sites of interest. The language skill component of the class consists of reading, writing and editing workshops that are linked to the content.
