Emeritus Status

  • Minimum of 10 years service prior to retirement
  • Must be retired, or have submitted intent to retire at time of application
  • For both Tenured and Non-Tenure-Track faculty
  • Plan to remain professionally active following retirement
  • Recognizes the achievement of high distinction on the part of the faculty member and an ongoing relationship with the University

  • Tuition remission for University courses
  • Tuition remission for spouse and children, subject to Benefits eligibility

Emeritus Status Applications

  • Submit letter to chair or director providing rationale for the appointment with current CV
  • Approval by College/School/Center rank and tenure committee
  • Approval by University Committee on Academic Rank and Tenure
  • Approval by the Vice President, Academic Affairs
