Fugue, the Saint Louis University Journal of Women and Women's Studies

Fugue, the Saint Louis University Journal of Women and Women's Studies, is a collection of writings, artworks and voices that focus around women's and gendered issues within these forms. Open to all Saint Louis University students, faculty and staff, Fugue provides a forum for the expression of differing gendered discourses and investigations, through the mediums of varying artistic and academic genres and styles. Fugue's goals are twofold and simultaneous: to accentuate the commonalities within diverse experience while celebrating each contributor's unique, distinctive voice. To achieve this end, Fugue endeavors to hear and commemorate gendered voices - including those often marginalized or silenced by the constraints of the "mainstream" of a wide range of communities, cultures and nations.

Submissions include personal reflection, critical and textual analysis, artwork, psychological query, poetry, short stories and introspective prose. By incorporating extremely diverse thematic approaches and accounts, we hope to emphasize the breadth of influential factors and considerations which act upon the establishment and subsequent declaration of identity.

From childhood experience to educational practices to the intricate workings of contemporary society, a constant barrage of influencing factors - both internal and external - fashion and form our sense of I, me and any sense of the collective us. Fugue and Women's Studies both recognize and celebrate these influences.
