Doerr Center cited in recognition of SLU as a "savior" of our city. Saying that Saint Louis University reflects the best of the Jesuit devotion to the inner city poor, a national survey ranked SLU among the top 25 urban colleges and universities considered "good neighbors." The rankings singled out SLU's Doerr Center for Social Justice and Micah Program.
Continuing the Conversation: Building Inclusion on the SLU Campus, Saturday April 10, 2010. A half-day intergroup workshop was presented by the National Conference for Community and Justice (NCCJ). A group of 25 students, faculty and administrators explored identities of privilege and oppression and the social structures through which these identities become socialized. The event was co- sponsored by the Doerr Center for Social Justice, the Cross-Cultural Center at SLU and the African American Studies Program.
Hoops for Haiti, Saturday March 27, 2010. Students and faculty/staff from across the University faced off in a basketball game to raise funds for Friends of the Children of Haiti and Randolph World Ministries, two NGOs that have connections with members of the SLU Community. This student-organized event raised over $1,100 - making the students winners in addition to the faculty-staff team, who won the basketball game.
