Saint Louis University Classical Humanities Program OverviewSaint Louis University's classical humanities major offers you a choice of concentrations in Latin, Greek or both languages. Designed for students pursuing a course of study that is facilitated by knowledge of classical languages and culture - including law, medicine, theology, philosophy, political science, anthropology, art history and others - SLU's classical humanities curriculum is flexible and offers many types of tutorials and independent study options.
You'll have access to the University's Center for Medieval and Renaissance Studies and the Vatican Film Library on campus, as well as access to computer software and Internet support specifically for Latin and Greek studies, literary studies and comparative literature.
What You'll Learn in SLU's Classical Humanities ProgramSaint Louis University's major in classical humanities requires 27 credit hours. You will choose from three prerequisites in Latin, Greek or both and go on to take six electives from the languages as well as upper-division courses relating to classical culture.
A concentration in classical humanities is also available, requiring three prerequisites in Greek or Latin as well as four electives taken in those languages or in classical culture.
