Saint Louis University Nursing Degree Overview
Saint Louis University's School of Nursing offers a full-time, four-year undergraduate program leading to a Bachelor of Science in nursing (BSN) degree. SLU's School of Nursing is a direct admit program. Nursing students at SLU are admitted as first-time freshmen from high school or as college transfer students. SLU also offers accelerated one-year Bachelor's of Science in nursing
(ABSN) and a registered nurse to Bachelor's of Science in nursing
(RN to BSN) options.
The Saint Louis University School of Nursing was founded in 1928 and has since been a national leader in nursing education. If you choose to major in nursing at SLU, you will have the opportunity to spend all or part of your first two years in our traditional nursing program studying in Spain at SLU-Madrid
What You'll Learn in SLU's Nursing Degree Program
Saint Louis University's nursing curriculum consists of science and nursing courses as well a well-rounded liberal arts education background. SLU offers a low student to faculty ratio for all clinical courses. and other St. Louis-area hospitals offer internships and fellowship programs for students enrolled in SLU's BSN program. Through these programs, you'll work in a clinical specialty area with a nurse preceptor. In addition, SLU Hospital recruits students at all levels to work as patient care technicians while enrolled in Saint Louis University's nursing program.
What Can You Do With a Degree in Nursing from SLU?
Students who successfully complete Saint Louis University's nursing program are eligible to take the National Council Licensure Examination for Registered Nurses
), the exam that measures the competencies needed to perform as an effective entry-level nurse. SLU's pass rates on the NCLEX-RN are consistently above the national average. As a result, SLU's School of Nursing expects its graduates to be successfully hired after graduation or accepted into graduate programs.
