Saint Louis University has the oldest psychology department at a Jesuit university and has offered psychology courses for more than 100 years.
What can it offer you today?
A popular major, a good foundation
The SLU psychology major attracts more than 300 undergraduates, making it among the most popular at the University. Each year, more than 100 students earn bachelor's degrees in psychology, which can lead to careers in medicine, physical therapy, occupational therapy or law, or to graduate study in psychology.
Wherever they end up, the SLU psychology major's strong liberal arts background, evaluation skills and enhanced understanding of themselves and others make them uniquely prepared to make a difference.
Graduate education: More than a living, a life
The department offers popular master's and doctoral psychology programs in three areas:
A values-based, holistic approach encourages our graduate students to grow as effective, ethical practitioners.
Even as undergraduates, our students get involved in research, publication and community service that can change lives. The department operates two centers -- the Center for the Application of Behavioral Sciences, and the Psychological Services Center -- that give students opportunities to put their knowledge to good use and improve the lives of others.
