Welcome to the website of the Department of Theological Studies (DTS) at Saint Louis University. The links on the left provide information about programs, faculty, and other resources in the department.
DTS is one of the largest theology faculties among Catholic and Jesuit universities. It boasts a talented faculty who engage in innovative research projects and creative pedagogy, while serving the university and local communities through ministry and education. Through study and teaching in the disciplines of Scripture, Christian Ethics, Comparative Theology, World Religions, Constructive Theology, and Historical Theology, students and faculty in the Department strive to learn from our past, speak to our present, and to play our part in crafting the future.
DTS is proud of its strong graduate students and undergraduate majors and minors, who bring a wealth of talent and a variety of experience to DTS. Together we are committed to enhance, in creative and dynamic ways, a community of learning that realizes the vision of the founder of the Society of Jesus, Ignatius of Loyola. http://www.slu.edu/x844.xml
The doctoral program focuses on Historical Theology, the area in which the majority of our faculty specializes. The Ph.D. in Historical Theology provides advanced training in Early, Medieval, and Modern Christianity for future leaders in education and theological research. Our M.A. program offers tracks in religious education and in research, with concentrations in historical and constructive theology, as well as in religious ethics.
