Program areas include Elementary, Middle School, Secondary (Alt Cert only) and Special Education.
Option 1 - B.A. in Education (120 credits)
If you do not have a bachelor's degree, you will need to pursue the education degree option to become eligible for Missouri teacher certification.
You can pursue a bachelor's degree in education in St. Louis to obtain Missouri teacher certification in Elementary Education (grades 1-6), Middle School Education (grades 5-9) or Special Education (grades K-12, mild-moderate disabilities). There is also a Non-Licensure Education Degree option.
Option 2 - Teacher Certification Programs (71-77 credits)
This option is designed for students who already have a Bachelor's degree but not a full-time teaching contract from a Missouri public school or an accredited nonpublic school. Through this program, you can become eligible for Missouri teacher certification in the elementary (grades 1-6), middle (grades 5-9) and special education areas (grades K-12, mild-moderate disabilities).
Option 3 - Alternative Teacher Certification Programs (32-39 credits)
This program allows students who already have a Bachelor's degree and a full-time teaching contract from a Missouri public school or an accredited nonpublic school to become eligible for Missouri teacher certification. Your full-time teaching contract must be in the certification area you wish to pursue.
We offer alternative teacher certification programs in elementary education (grades 1-6), middle school education (grades 5-9), secondary education (grades 9-12) and special education (grades K-12, mild-moderate disabilities).
These innovative teacher certification programs feature accelerated online and evening classes and meet all the requirements of (and have been approved by) the Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (MODESE). Successful completion of all program requirements results in recommendation for Missouri teacher certification.
