Scheduling an Appointment with Your Academic Advisor:
To meet with your advisor in person, it is best to make an appointment in advance. While walk-in appointments may be available, having a scheduled appointment is the best way to guarantee an appropriate amount of time to meet with your advisor. You should contact your assigned advisor by email or telephone to schedule an appointment. You may also schedule your appointment online through SLU Appointments. When arriving for your scheduled appointment, please come to the Dean's Office, Suite 130, and check in with the front desk. If you must cancel for any reason, please do not hesitate to call or email to reschedule your appointment. Note: Current students who have been given access to their advisor's Advising Appointments calendar are welcome to schedule their own appointments on the calendar.
How to Log on to Make an Appointment with your Advisor:
1. Log onto your mySLU Account
2. Open the Tools tab
3. Click the SLU Appointments icon
4. Select Academic Advising
5. Follow the screens to select your appointment time
E-mailing your Academic Advisor:
Many of the questions you have for your advisor can be handled via email-especially questions requiring only a brief response. It is very important that you get in the habit of using your SLU e-mail. When emailing your academic advisor, consider the following in order to receive a more prompt reply:
- Use your SLU email account
- Use a clear subject line such as "Summer class question"
- Include your full name and Banner ID Number
- Keep the question short and to the point
- Use formal grammar with punctuation
- Proofread and spell check before hitting the send button
