Formal PhD course work in nursing at Saint Louis University does not require clinical contact; however, PhD nursing students conducting their own research, working on faculty research or doing clinical teaching as part of an assistantantship may have clinical contact. For this reason, PhD nursing students are expected to hold current licensure in the geographic jurisdiction where they will conduct their own research or have clinical contact. On-campus students are strongly encouraged to obtain Missouri licensure as well.
