Bachelor of Science in Nursing
Deadlines for applying for a degree on the next graduation date are noted in the semester calendar. Application is made on-line and all candidates must complete a graduate survey as part of the application process. Graduation dates for the University are in January, May, and August.
Graduation requirements are as follows:
- Minimum of 126 semester hours.
- 60 semester hours in nursing.
- Completion of all program requirements.
- Cumulative grade point average of 2.5.
- Last 30 hours in residence at Saint Louis University.
Graduation with Honors
The cumulative grade point average for honors is based only on course work at Saint Louis University. Students must have a cumulative grade point average (CGPA) of at least 3.5 to graduate with honors.

Students receiving a first baccalaureate degree must have completed 54 semester hours in residence at Saint Louis University in order to be eligible to graduate with honors. A student with a baccalaureate degree from another institution may be awarded a second baccalaureate degree with honors if at least 48 credit hours are earned at Saint Louis University.
Cap and Gown Information
A special graduate fair is held in Busch Memorial Center in March. At the fair, graduates may purchase "one-way" or keepsake caps and gowns which are mandatory for participation in the May Precommencement and Commencement ceremonies. At the fair, you may also purchase rings and personalized announcements. The Office of Community Relations will provide additional information to the graduates in the Spring semester.
Class Composite and State Board Photographs
Each year the graduating class is given the opportunity to have photographs taken for a class composite and three (3) state board photos. Digital Pix & Composites, Inc. will photograph each participant. (5) color proofs will be available online from which to select a pose.
Each participant will receive:
- a professional photographic sitting at the School of Nursing in October before graduation;
- placement of their individual photograph, identified by name, on a 11x14 color class composite;
- three (3) state board photos for use with state board applications where applicable.
School of Nursing Graduate Pins
Graduates are eligible to purchase the School of Nursing pin during the senior year which are to be worn only after the degree if conferred. Purchase is optional. The selected company will provide information regarding price and purchase in the Spring semester. Saint Louis University School of Nursing is not responsible for any transaction including the delivery of the pin. The RN Option graduates are eligible to wear the School of Nursing pin.
