Practice: Dr. Mary Lee Barron is a Family Nurse Practitioner, initially certified in 1986. In 2000 she became a Natural Family Planning Nurse Practitioner. Dr. Barron's primary area of interest has been in Obstetrics and Women's Health having practiced in a variety of nursing roles in this specialty area during her nursing career. In particular she has published articles on Preconception Care, Antepartum Care, Natural Family Planning, and the role of the nurse practitioner in this specialty. She directs the Nursing Center for Fertility Education in which the Marquette Method of Natural Family Planning education, direct patient services, and research is ongoing. Additionally, Marquette Method Teacher Training is offered through the SON Continuing Education programs.
Teaching: Dr. Barron teaches in the Family Nurse Practitioner program. Her primary teaching assignments have been in the Primary Health Care Nursing of Adults as well as Primary Health Care nursing of Childbearing and Childrearing Families. Additionally, she teaches an elective Women's Health Issues course.
Professional and Scholarly Activities: Dr. Barron has published articles on preconception care, antepartum care, natural family planning, and the role of the nurse practitioner in this specialty.
