Teaching: Dr. Lavin is dedicated to education in all its forms but especially to creative and scientifically sound online methodologies. Her emphasis on the scientific soundness of the education complements her interest in establishing an evidence base for nursing that is valid and truly reflects nursing research. Dr. Lavin has remained interested in the advancement of nursing from her early work in co-coordinating the First National Conference on the Classification of Nursing Diagnoses to her current work with the NANDA-International terminology and her interest in other terminologies as well. She is convinced that these terminologies define not only the language of nursing but its essence as well and welcomes those interested in advancing the field in advanced nursing practice or in doctoral research. Dr. Lavin is a Charter Fellow of the American Academy of Nursing. Dr. Lavin teaches Advanced Pharmacology in Nursing Practice, Advanced Practice Nurse Role, and Research Utilization and Evidence Based Practice.
Research: Use of nursing diagnoses and other nursing terminologies nationally and internationally, evidence based nursing and the development of filters that screen articles appropriately for nursing research, online language development and research (NLinkinks) population-based health promotion, and interprofessional education, practice and research.
Practice: Adult Nurse Practitioner fields.
