Teaching: Gere has been teaching at the School of Nursing since 1991. She has taught both undergraduate and graduate courses in Medical Surgical Nursing. Currently Gere is the coordinator of the Adult Gerontology Acute Care Nurse Practitioner Option and is responsible for the curriculum content and supervision of the nurse practitioner students.
Practice: Gere is dual certified as an Adult Nurse Practitioner and Adult Gerontology Acute Care Nurse Practitioner. She has worked extensively as a registered nurse in critical care hospitals in Boston, San Francisco and St. Louis. She currently has a clinical practice in a Level 1 Emergency Department at Barnes Jewish Hospital in St. Louis, MO.
Professional and Scholarly Activities: Gere is an active member of several State and National organizations, including Sigma Theta Tau International, American Nurses Association, Emergency Nurses Association, and American College of Nurse Practitioner Faculties, Special Interest Group - AG-ACNP.
Gere has presented a variety of nursing educational events both nationally and internationally and has authored in both textbooks and study guides for medical/ surgical nursing. She is an active member in the St. Louis Advanced Practice group and presents biannually at the St. Louis University Advanced Practice Conference. She has been employed as an expert witness and has testified in numerous malpractice cases involving the Standards of care for Nurses.
