Teaching: My primary teaching responsibilities have been general research methods at the master's level and quantitative research methods and theory at the doctoral level. I teach courses both on-site and online.
Research: My focus is health behavior. In the past I focused on exercise behavior in older adults. My National Institute of Nursing Research funded research focused on older adults' thoughts about their exercise behavior and how these thoughts can be modified to improve exercise maintenance. I have expanded my focus to include dietary behavior in middle-aged adults. Meta-analysis is my current methodological interest.
Practice: I have been a consultant on statistics and research design for health-related activities.
Professional and Scholarly Activities: I am a reviewer for several professional journals and for Sigma Theta Tau International. I am a member of Midwest Nursing Research Society and the American Nurses' Association.
