SLUCare allergists and immunologists diagnose and treat allergic diseases, asthma and immune disorders. In addition to allergy skin testing for foods and airborne allergens, we offer a number of special services, including lung function testing and desensitization for inhalant, insect venom and drug sensitivities.
We evaluate nasal and sinus problems with fiber optic technology that allows us to examine the nasal passages, pharynx and nasal cavity. Our occupational asthma and allergy service treats patients with job-related allergies and provides workplace consultation. We also participate in the multidisciplinary Saint Louis University Sinus Institute, which serves people with chronic sinusitis.
In addition, the division is home to the New Hope Clinic, serving people with HIV/AIDS and other complex infectious diseases, including MRSA and tuberculosis.
As the physicians of Saint Louis University, our experts are doctors, teachers and researchers.
Our Center for Vaccine Development is one of the most prominent vaccine research centers in the country. There, SLUCare researchers are engaged in cutting-edge studies of new and improved vaccines to prevent HIV and AIDS; RSV; hepatitis A, B and C; Haemophilus influenza type B; influenza; dengue; and pertussis, or whooping cough.
