Vulvar and Vaginal Disorders Specialty Center
The Vulvar and Vaginal Disorders Specialty Center offers services to women of all ages who are experiencing problems of the outer genital area and/or vagina. The majority of our patients have experienced symptoms for months or years and have tried various treatments without success.
Symptoms or conditions may include:
- Lichen Planus
- Lichen Sclerosis
- Lichen Simplex Chronicus
- Vulvar intraepithelial neoplasia
- Pain with intercourse
- Persistent vaginal/vulvar itching
- Recurrent vaginal discharge
- Vaginal/vulvar burning or pain
- Vestibulitis Vulvadynia
The Vulvar and Vaginal Disorders Specialty Center is staffed with specialists from the Department of Obstetrics, Gynecology and Women's Health. These physicians have additional training and experience in the evaluation and treatment of vulvar and vaginal diseases.
Your gynecologist has knowledge about these types of problems, but the specialists at the Vulvar and Vaginal Disorders Specialty Center offer additional expertise to recommend a variety of therapies to cure or relieve symptoms.
What To Expect During Your Visit
The Vulvar and Vaginal Disorders Specialty Center specialists will obtain a comprehensive medical history and review of symptoms and treatments that you have had for your vaginal and/or vulvar problem. An examination will be performed and necessary testing obtained.You will be counseled on guidelines to improve the health of the vagina and vulva.
Management and treatment strategies for you will be based upon symptoms and identification of the vaginal or vulvar problem. The specialists of the Vulvar and Vaginal Disorders Specialty Center recognize the emotional and psychological effects of these problems and utilize a holistic approach in the care of women. Treatment options vary from use of medications, physical therapy, biofeedback, psychotherapy or surgery.
The Vulvar and Vaginal Disorders Specialty Center is located within the Department of Obstetrics, Gynecology and Women's Health suite at the St. Mary's Health Center complex in Richmond Heights. Please park in the Bellevue Medical Plaza Garage.
