Based at SSM Cardinal Glennon Children's Medical Center, SLUCare pediatric surgeons care for sick and injured children and adolescents from around the St. Louis area and the nation. Our experienced team of experts provides the best possible care in a family-centered, child-friendly environment.
Among our resources is SSM Cardinal Glennon Children's Medical Center's new Pediatric Hybrid Cardiac Cath Lab. This high-tech surgical suite allows multiple teams to use the latest technology to diagnose and operate on a child's heart in one room and in one safe procedure. We also provide the only Fetal Surgery center in the Midwest region, where open and closed procedures are performed on babies in the womb to correct multiple types of congenital abnormalities.
SLUCare pediatric surgeons specialize in all aspects of pediatric surgery, including cancer care and trauma repair, as well as thoracic and abdominal surgery, and endoscopy.
We also offer neonatal surgery, and cardiac and respiratory support (extracorporeal membrane oxygenation, or ECMO) services for infants with respiratory distress, as well as organ transplantation for infants and children with organ failure.
SLUCare pediatric surgeons often use minimally invasive surgery, resulting in smaller scars than with traditional surgery. Some minimally invasive surgeries for children can be done using an incision as small as a keyhole.
