Students can choose any major and be part of the pre-professional health studies program. Whether you want to become a physician, dentist, veterinarian, optometrist, or podiatrist, SLU's Pre-professional Health Studies office will make sure you take a well-defined program of study to help reach your goals.
Saint Louis University's program is flexible and tailored to your schedule and your abilities according to college admission test scores, high school science background and class rank.
What should you major in?
Anything! You don't have to major in biology, so choose a major that meets your interests and goals. Professional schools require you to complete some pre-requisite courses, but they do not require certain majors. In fact, they like to see students with well-rounded backgrounds, including lots of humanities courses that develop the communication skills essential in the practice of health professions. Check out some of the majors that SLU has to offer!
Non-science majors who take a minimum number of science courses to meet professional school requirements must do well in those courses to make sure they are prepared for their future studies.
