Kino Border Initiative
Nogales, AZ and Nogales, Sonora, MX
The Kino Border Initiative is a collaborative, bi-national apostolic effort that engages in Catholic education and faith formation, socio-pastoral outreach, research and advocacy on both sides of the border in Nogales. Strengthened by a faith that welcomes strangers, the Kino Border Initiative supports the ministry of the US and Mexican communities who welcome the undocumented and care for them as brothers and sisters. Their goal is to create bi-national migration programs that are both community-based and self-sustaining. Students will be provided the opportunity for direct service, for dialogue with people impacted by migration and for reflection on their experience and response. Upon returning to St. Louis, students will be encourage to partner with the members of the local community working to address these global issues.
