Stupp Geographic Information Systems (GIS)
Saint Louis University's Stupp Geographic Information Systems (GIS) Lab serves as a resource to the university and regional community with its intellectual and technological capacities for academic pursuits.
It provides our students the opportunity for hands-on experience in statistics, database resources, and project management, working closely with faculty from several disciplines.
Using GIS technologies, faculty and students are afforded the opportunity to collaborate with schools and colleges across the university, including:
- Public health
- Sociology & criminal justice
- SLU Law and in-house law clinics
- The John Cook School of Business
GIS coursework is tailored to the application of social science research and community engagement, and complements other GIS resources at SLU.
Additional GIS programs in the Department of Earth and Atmospheric Sciences and the School of Public Health make SLU a top university for applied GIS and interdisciplinary GIS education. Undergraduate and graduate-level GIS courses prepare students to apply GIS tools to their research and work in the social sciences.
