Saint Louis University Civil Engineering Degree Overview
Saint Louis University's undergraduate degree in civil engineering incorporates the latest industry trends to address the current and future needs of the profession and our society. The civil engineering curriculum at SLU's Parks College of Engineering, Aviation and Technology prepares you to practice your skills in the real world by using project-based, hands-on learning methods to explore three primary areas of focus:
- Green design and sustainability engineering
- Infrastructure design, evaluation and restoration
- Transportation planning, analysis and design
Competitive summer internships and cooperative education programs are available for SLU's civil engineering students. You may also be able to pursue independent study on a civil engineering topic under the direction of a faculty member.

What You'll Learn in SLU's Civil Engineering Program
SLU's civil engineering program provides a solid foundation in the engineering sciences, including the study of graphics; mechanics of solids; fluid sciences; and structural, environmental, geotechnical, hydraulic and transportation engineering.
If you choose this major, you'll learn problem-solving techniques throughout your undergraduate career, culminating in a two-semester capstone design sequence during which you'll become aware of the impact of design decisions, not only on the technical aspects of design but on society as a whole.
