Ric has been the Chair of the Department of Sociology and Anthropology since 2006.
My most recent work involves the issue of entrepreneurship. My work has taken two forms: economic history and cross national comparisons. I am currently working on the economic sociology of Japanese entrepreneurship since the Meiji Restoration with Professor Yui. We have analyzed the waves of industrial innovation over the last 100 plus years in Japan and the individuals involved. In addition, I am working with the Global Entrepreneurship Monitor data on cross national analyses of entrepreneurial activity and societal and industrial regulation.
