Department of Clinical Laboratory Science
The department current offers three undergraduate degrees:
- Bachelor of Science in Clinical Laboratory Science
- Bachelor of Science in Cytotechnology
- Bachelor of Science in Investigative and Medical Sciences
The department also currently offers a Post-bacclaureate Certificate in Cytotechnology.
The department will be celebrating 85 years of service to the laboratory community in 2014. Department of Clinical Laboratory Science (formerly Medical Technology) has as its mission, the service of humanity through the education of laboratory scientists. In addition, the faculty are dedicated to developing the required competencies and values in our students and to encouraging each of you to attain your fullest potential.
The department has been continuously accredited during its 75+ year history. Clinical Laboratory Science majors and alumni from this program have served the health care needs of individuals throughout the world. Currently the department houses three baccalaureate degrees and four certificate programs.
The traditional baccalaureate degree in Clinical Laboratory Science was the first to be offered. This degree is the appropriate choice if you wish to pursue a career in a clinical laboratory setting in a hospital, clinic or physician's office lab.
In the fall of 2002, the Department of Clinical Laboratory Science introduced a second B.S. degree option in Investigative and Medical Sciences (IMS). This unique program allows individuals who are interested in pursuing science careers at the undergraduate level a BS degree with a medical focus.
