Minor in Creative Writing
The creative-writing minor requires 15 hours of course work: 9 hours in creative writing (3 chosen from English 304-309 and 6 from English 405-409 and 412); and 6 hours in literature (selected in consultation with the Chair of the Creative Writing Committee).
Some examples of courses in literature that would complement a student's particular interests in creative writing would be two classes in
- American, British, or post-colonial fiction, or
- American or British poetry, or
- American or British drama, or
- American ethnic literatures.
For the minor, as for the major emphasizing creative writing, students submit a portfolio of representative work for assessment before they graduate.
