We are accepting applications for the fall 2015 AMSN program. The School of Nursing admits students on a rolling basis typically beginning in February. Although the application deadline is July 1, we encourage students to apply and have all supporting documents in as soon as possible as space is limited.
Saint Louis University School of Nursing is excited to offer the first Accelerated Master's of Science in Nursing (AMSN) program in Missouri. This 21 month (5 semester) program is designed for individuals who are not Registered Nurses but have already earned a baccalaureate degree in another field. The graduate will earn a Master's of Science in Nursing (MSN) and be prepared to sit for both the nursing licensure exam and certification as a Clinical Nurse Leader.
The Clinical Nurse Leader is a fast emerging role developed by the American Association of Colleges of Nursing in collaboration with leaders from nursing practice and nursing education (see here). The CNL provides leadership at the point of care focusing on outcomes measurement, risk assessment, quality improvement, interprofessional communication and evidence based practice.
The CNL is a leader in the health care delivery system who coordinates the care of a distinct group of patients and actively provides direct patient care in complex situations. To view a brochure provided by the American Association of Colleges of Nursing regarding the CNL please click here. This is NOT an advanced practice role-graduates of the AMSN program will NOT be prepared for certification as a nurse practitioner.
