Waves of Democratic Change
Dr. Valerie Bunce spoke on "Waves of Democratic Change" at Saint Louis University on April 28, 2010 at the SLU Museum of Art, 3663 Lindell Blvd. She compared the circumstances and events leading up to the collapse of communism in Eastern Europe with more recent electoral revolutions in Ukraine, Georgia, and elsewhere.

Her research and teaching address comparative democratization, international democracy promotion and inter-ethnic cooperation and conflict, focusing particularly on east-central Europe, the Balkans, and the Soviet successor states, though her comparative interests extend to Latin America.
She is the author of Subversive Institutions (Cambridge University Press, 1999) and numerous other books and articles.
