The Fraternity and Sorority Community at Saint Louis University has a unique partnership with Campus Ministry that aims to inspire spiritual growth and personal development as part of the fraternal experience. A number of opportunities are offered to assist students in exploring these connections through their chapter membership.
Greek Convocation - Each fall, following the completion of fraternity and sorority recruitment, the Greek Community opens the semester with Greek Convocation. Although it is held in St. Francis Xavier College Church, it is not a mass or religious service. Rather, Greek Convocation is a ceremony to welcome new members to the community, to highlight the contributions of the fraternity and sorority chapters to the university, and to inspire our members to consider their unique role in bettering the University, local, national, and global community.
Greek Mission Trip - Through partnership with Campus Ministry's Christian Action Program (SLUCAP), the Fraternity and Sorority Community coordinates a mission trip over spring break to Virginia to rebuild homes through the Appalachia Service Project. Participation is open to all fraternity and sorority members. Applications are available during the fall semester through Campus Ministry. Scholarships to assist in the cost of the trip are available through Panhellenic Council, Interfraternity Council, and Campus Ministry.
Greeks Rooted in Prayer (G.R.I.P) - Hosted on Wednesdays at 8:15 pm in DeMattias Chapel, G.R.I.P. is a group of Greek students at SLU that come together once a week in hopes of deepening their faith lives through discussion, reflection, and prayer and growing together as a community to improve their respective chapters and Greek life as a whole on campus. Weekly meetings consist of an opening prayer, intros/checking in, a reflection and discussion led by a member (usually consisting of a Bible verse or quote), offer of something to think about for the week to improve self/chapter/Greek life, petitions, and closing prayer. All Greeks are welcome!
