SLU's Health Law Program ranks No. 1 in the nation by U.S. News & World Report
Through collaboration with the SLU School of Law, accredited by the American Bar Association, the dual MPH-HMP/JD prepares highly motivated students to work in the rewarding and challenging fields of law and public health.
This program enables graduates to approach health and legal issues in an interdisciplinary manner. Recipients of the degree practice law in a variety of settings including governmental public health agencies, private law firms and non-profit institutions.
The program primarily aims to educate students to become preeminent leaders in the special legal needs of public health entities.
A major benefit of this dual degree format is that students obtain both degrees more quickly than if obtained separately, roughly four years compared to five. This integrated program requires completion of professional law-school requirements as well as the fulfillment of a complete MPH-HMP degree (51 credit-hours), which includes nine credit-hours of coursework from the School of Law JD degree requirements.
