Research Interests: My particular area of community benefit research examines what community stakeholders are getting from their respective nonprofit hospitals and the factors that impact the provision of those benefits.

Prior to entering academia, Jason Turner, PhD, MAE spent a number of years in the healthcare sector as a controller for a large, national healthcare insurer and administrator for a hospital chain. He teaches corporate finance and accounting to graduate students in the MHA program with a particular focus on how finance and accounting relate to the overall strategy of the firm.
His research is centered on capital structure and investment behavior, assessment of risk, the implementation of payment methodologies, and community benefit. In addition, Dr. Turner is a Fellow with the Academy of Healthcare Management, recipient of the Terry Leet Award for Teaching Excellence, and holds appointments in the School of Law and the Saint Louis University Center for Outcomes Research.
