ITS Tech Tip: Use Filters to Organize Incoming E-Mail
You can use filters to automatically label, archive, delete, star, or forward certain types of incoming messages. Filters can be created based on any message.
While you are viewing a single message:
- Click "More actions"
- Select "Filter messages like this" - Google will automatically enter the sender's email address in the "From:" field.
- Add additional information or just click "Next Step"
- Checkmark any additional instructions, such as "Never send it to Spam" or "Always mark it as important"
- Checkmark "Also apply filter to conversations below" - This way, you don't have to go back and apply the filter to previously received emails.
- Click "Update Filter"
