Pharmacoeconomics involves the assessment of the costs and benefits associated with pharmaceutical interventions. The purpose of this course is to introduce the student to the concepts associated with pharmacoeconomic analyses. The goal of the course is to allow the student to appropriately interpret the merits of pharmacoeconomic literature to allow for informed decision making.
Upon completion of the course students will:
1. Have an understanding of the components of a pharmacoeconomic analysis.
2. Be able to identify the appropriate methodologies for pharmacoeconomic research questions.
3. Be able to understand the role of pharmacoeconomics in healthcare decision making within the US and abroad.
4. Be familiar with pharmacoeconomic resources available to healthcare decision makers.
