Lee Smith Battle, R.N., DNS, is a professor of nursing at the School of Nursing at Saint Louis University.
She has conducted studies about teenage childbearing and the development of public health nursing expertise. She has interviewed one sample of teen mothers and their families every four to five years for 21 years and has published more than 35 articles in nursing and interdisciplinary journals.
Her studies have been funded by the National Institutes of Health, the American Nurses' Foundation, and Sigma Theta Tau International.
She teaches doctoral courses on knowledge development and qualitative research methods. She also teaches an undergraduate elective on teenage sexuality.
