The Reinert Center for Teaching Excellence invites submissions and nominations for the 2011 James H. Korn Scholarship of Teaching and Learning Award.
One of the goals of the Reinert Center for Teaching Excellence is to promote faculty inquiry and scholarly research about teaching and learning.
In 2006, the Center established the James H. Korn Award for the Scholarship of Teaching and Learning in recognition of psychology professor emeritus Jim Korn's many contributions to research about teaching and learning.
The Scholarship of Teaching and Learning (SoTL) involves asking questions about student learning and teaching activities; answering those questions by assessing student learning and effectiveness of teaching strategies; and publicly sharing results of this inquiry in a setting that invites peer review.
In addition to self submissions, we encourage nominations from others knowledgeable of nominated faculty member's work.
Nominees selected as finalists will be asked to submit more detail on the SoTL project to the selection committee.
To nominate, please email or mail the following information to Sandy Gambill at the Reinert Center for Teaching Excellence, 2nd Floor, Pius XII Memorial Library.
The deadline for submission is Monday, April 18.
