Is Nuclear Energy Sustainable?
Tuesday, April 12
Beracha Hall, room 221
During the spring 2011 semester, the Department of Facilities Services and Housing and Residence Life partnered with Ameren Missouri to host and sponsor an apartment conservation competition.
The apartment with the highest reduction in electricity for each month, compared with previous years' usage, will be entered into drawings for prizes.
In conjunction with this competition, Facilities Services, Housing and Residence Life and Ameren Missouri representatives have coordinated educational sessions for SLU students that provide the opportunity to learn outside of the classroom and hear from professionals in the energy industry.
The next education session will be held on Tuesday, April 12, 2011, on the topic of "Is Nuclear Energy Sustainable?"
The presentation and conversation will be lead by Don Koonce from Ameren Missouri who has spent more than 30 years at the Callaway Nuclear Power Plant. The presentation will also discuss Japan's nuclear crisis. This presentation begins at 4 p.m. and is being held in Beracha Hall, room 221.
