The psychiatry division will host Grand Rounds from 8-9 a.m. Thursday, April 14, in Monteleone Hall at 1438 So. Grand Blvd., Basement Level, Classroom A.
Charles R. Conway, M.D. will present "Functional Neuroimaging of VNS in Treatment-resistant Depression: Can we predict likelihood of response?"
Conway is an associate professor of psychiatry at Washington University School of Medicine and research assistant professor at St. Louis University School of Medicine.
His research is in mood disorders, with an emphasis in treatment-resistant depression (a form of major depressive disorder in which patients do not respond to multiple antidepressant treatments).
His recent work uses functional brain neuroimaging (positron emission tomography) in an effort to better understand treatment resistant depression and to determine if brain metabolic patterns can provide guidance regarding treatment for severe depression.
