The Department of Pediatrics presents Kurt Benirschke, M.D., at Grand Rounds.
His lecture entitled, "The Unusual Features of Monozygotic Twinning Events", will be given at 8 a.m. Wednesday, April 13, in Danis Auditorium, 1st Floor Glennon Hall.
Benirschke is professor emeritus of pathology at the University of California, San Diego, School of Medicine.
His career spans half a century, with primary interests in placental pathology, comparative reproductive pathology and comparative cytogenetics.
His text (with Peter Kaufmann) about human placental pathology is widely used and in its fifth edition.
Benirschke is a member of many societies, including the American Academy of Arts and Sciences and has authored 26 books and more than 500 scientific publications.
