The university community is invited to a poster presentation by students in the Integrated Interprofessional Practicum Experience, held from 4-5:30 p.m. Tuesday, April 26, in the Allied Health Building Multi-Purpose Room.
The Integrative Interprofessional Practicum Experience is the final course in the Interprofessional Education Program (IPE). It has been designed so that students can apply what they have learned about interprofessional team work in a community agency setting.
Five to six students are assigned to a team representing two or more health professions and then are assigned to a community agency. The team, in partnership with the agency, identifies an issue or need that is relevant to the population served by the agency and the agency's mission.
The student team then develops and implements a team project that addresses the need or issue. Tasks and activities to complete the project and meet the objectives of the course are agreed upon and implemented in collaboration with the IPE practicum faculty advisor and the site coordinator.
This practicum experience is a valuable learning experience for students and in return they provide a significant service to community agencies and those they serve.
