Master of Social Work Students Celebrate Achievements
Elizabeth Bauer worked with a state representative to draft Missouri state legislation to improve dental care for children. It is now a filed bill going through the legislative process (HB 827). View the bill.
Michelle-Elissa Glaser presented a paper , "A Pilot Program Using Media to Combat Trauman in Adolescents at the 19th European Congress of Psychiatry in Austria." She also has been accepted to present at the International Society for Stem Cell Research conference. The topic is adding psychosocial education and treatments to be used in conjunction with the IPS (induced pluripotent stem cell) treatments that will develop.
Connie Greene, MSW Student and SLU Res Life, employee has been honored as a "Silver Star " for her outreach work in her practicum with the St. Louis Crisis Nursery Family Empowerment and Outreach Center.
Erin Moriarity, BSSW student, was published in April 2011 AARP's Missouri State line in an article titled "Nursing homes: through the eyes of a student."
Madalyn Painter wrote a grant to Gateway Greening on behalf of her practicum site, the Bevo-Long Community and it was funded. She wrote an article on this for St. Louis Public Radio website.
Whitney Villmer was attended the Clinton Global Initiative University where she shook hands with President Clinton and heard him speak. As a result of this participation and on-going mentoring by the Clinton Initiative, she wants to work on Intimate Partner Violence within the Lesbian, Bisexual, Gay and Transgender community.
Lauren Wilson will serve as the Secretary in the Missouri National Association of Social Workers.
