Saint Louis University has had an annual student exhibition for about 40 years.
Three years ago the Department of Fine and Performing Arts began hosting a preview event to give the campus community the chance to look at the show prior to the official opening.
This opportunity allows individuals from departments and administrative offices to select work for purchase for university spaces. Your office will then receive student artwork (after the end of the show on May 10) to permanently display in your office space.
Over the years we have received many requests to have student work in university spaces. By purchasing student artwork you can provide students pivotal support whilst being able to choose a piece that has resonance to your program, spaces, and needs.
Please consider participating in this opportunity --without commitment-- by attending the preview on April 28. Students will show their drawings, sculpture, paintings, prints and photographs on campus in Boileau Hall. The prices range from $20-600.
Students have said that it meant a lot have their work purchased by the institution. The immediate reward is financial, but the lingering commitment of the institution to the students' work is even more meaningful to the students.
Some people who have come to the preview have also purchased artwork for their own collection. Other viewers have commissioned students after seeing their artwork at the preview.
Please call Sharron Pollack, director of the studio art program, 314-977-3026 or email, so we can plan our refreshments for those of you choosing to attend this preview viewing.
If you can't make it to the preview, then join us at the opening of the Annual Student Show.
