Nancy Nord, Commissioner with the United States Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), will be the guest speaker at Saint Louis University's product safety management course graduation ceremony at 11 a.m. Tuesday, June 21. The event will take place in room L27 at the University's John Cook School of Business, 3674 Lindell Blvd.
The Certificate in Product Safety Management course was launched in 2010 through the business school's Center for Supply Chain Management in partnership with ADK Information Services, LLC.
The program combines on-campus instruction and online distance learning specifically geared to safety professionals and is the first university level certificate program for product safety managers.
About Nancy Nord: Nominated by President George W. Bush for a term that expires in October 2012, Nord was sworn into office in 2005 and also served as acting CPSC chair from July 2006 until May 2009. The CPSC protects the public against unreasonable risks of injury and death associated with consumer products.
Nord has held a number of legal positions in both the federal government and the private sector. Her federal experience includes service as General Counsel of the White House Council on Environmental Quality and counsel to the Commerce Committee of the U.S. House of Representatives. Her private sector positions include Director of Federal Affairs for the Eastman Kodak Company and Director of Consumer Affairs for the U.S. Chamber of Commerce.
