Amina Turnadzic, a nuclear medicine senior in the Doisy College of Health Sciences, won first place for her research presentation at the Society of Nuclear Medicine annual meeting held in June in San Antonio, Texas.
Turnadzic's paper, "Same day appointments after FDG PET/CT: A potential radiation exposure to medical personnel and general public" won first place in the student presentation radiation safety category.
Her research followed five patients who had received PET scans and measured how long the radiation dosage they received prior to the scan radiated from the body.
Turnadzic, along with six other nuclear medicine seniors presented their research at the annual conference, which is one of the top conferences in molecular imaging and nuclear medicine in the nation.
