Urban Plunge Details
Urban Plunge Retreat
The Urban Plunge Retreat, sponsored by Campus Ministry, is part of the Faith and Justice Ministry Program. It is an opportunity for students to explore social justice issues and community service within the City of St. Louis and to reflect on their experiences in the light of their faith. Discussion will focus on poverty and marginalization and the proper response to them. As part of the retreat, students have the opportunity to participate in an immersion and/or service project. Individual and group prayer is an integral part of the Urban Plunge experience. The Urban Plunge incorporates the values of the Faith and Justice Program: service, social justice, community, spirituality and reflection, simplicity and sustainability, and solidarity.
The retreat will begin around 2:30 pm on Friday, September 14th and will end around 6pm on Saturday, September 15th. Please gather at DuBourg Hall Room 157(Refectory Hall) for departure. The retreat will be held at St. Vincent DePaul Catholic Church located near downtown. Time will also be spent in St. Louis neighborhoods and at various other locations throughout the weekend. Transportation will be provided. You will receive an email with exact information (meeting time, etc.) the week of the retreat.
