SLUMA will host a special "Meet the Artist Happy Hour" from 5-8 p.m. Friday, Aug. 5, at the museum. The event is free-of-charge and is open to the public. Parking is available at the Canisius lot located at the northeast corner of Lindell and Spring.
Meet the artists of "Urban Wanderers" who have photographed, painted and sculpted a pit bull or pit bull mix, rescued by the dedicated staff of Stray Rescue of St. Louis.
The art contained in Urban Wanderers is imaginative, heartfelt, and whimsical. Throughout the evening, Urban Wanderers artists will offer a glimpse into not only the inspiration for the actual piece of art, but the love and devotion of the artist for his/her "object d'arf." Learn from the artists themselves, how the rescued strays not only caught their eyes, but in the process touched their hearts.
All artwork in the exhibition is available for silent auction at http://blacktiestl.com/auctions.
Stray Rescue is able to offer a respite from the streets; however, the rescued dogs need foster homes. The shelter is filled to capacity. Stray Rescue needs our help. Make a difference. Make a bid.
The evening will include music with DJ Josh Levi and complimentary Anheuser-Busch products and Gus' Pretzels.
