Kevin Broom, PhD, is an Assistant Professor of Health Management & Policy who joined the faculty at SLU in 2011. Dr. Broom also serves as an Accreditation Fellow for the Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Management Education (CAHME), the accrediting body for graduate-level programs in health management.
Dr. Broom also has extensive practitioner experience in health administration. Dr. Broom is a retired Lieutenant Colonel who served for 22+ years in the Army Medical Department. During his time on active duty, he served as the Chief Financial Officer for Bayne-Jones Army Community Hospital and as a Health Administrator for Blanchfield Army Community Hospital. He also served 8 years in the Army's rapid deployment forces, including having commanded in the 101st Airborne Division, where he focused on healthcare delivery in tactical environments and during humanitarian relief efforts.
In his final assignment prior to retirement (and joining the SLU faculty), Dr. Broom served as the Deputy Program Director for the Army-Baylor University Graduate Program in Health and Business Administration. In 2009 and 2011 he was selected as the "Educator of the Year" at the Army-Baylor Program, where he was an Assistant Professor of Finance.
Dr. Broom and his wife Polly are the parents of 5 children.
